LATEST CHART BATTLE: LEON VS PETER KAY!

We thought Leon Jackson had this week’s number one in the bag – but it looks like he’s got some stiff competition from Peter Kay.

The comic’s spoof X Factor single The Winner’s Song, which sees him perform as Northern Irish sex-change singer Geraldine McQueen, is currently creeping up the charts.

The song was written by Gary Barlow for Peter’s latest telly show the brilliantly named Britain’s Got The Pop Factor Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice and is now a serious contender for the number one spot.

While Leon’s single Don’t Call This Love is favourite to top the charts, Peter’s hit has crept up from number six on Monday to number four yesterday.

‘Peter’s song is picking up serious momentum. It is selling faster than any of its rivals,’ said a source to The Sun.

‘If it continues like this for the rest of the week it will be No1.’

Oh dear looks like the lovely Leon could be beaten by a man wearing a dress.
