Kate’s gold statue goes on display

Kate Moss is probably one of the most recognised faces in the world so it’s little wonder the model has been immortalised in gold. A £1.5m solid gold sculpture of the mother of one will go on display in the Nereid Gallery of the British Museum.

Titled Siren, the piece was made by Marc Quinn, and is reportedly the largest gold statue to be made in the world since Ancient Egyptian times.

It’s not the first time Mark has used Kate as a muse. He previously created Sphinx, a white-painted bronze sculpture of the star in a contorted yoga pose.

Speaking about using the model as a subject, he told The Daily Telegraph: “I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who's the ideal beauty of the moment. But even Kate Moss doesn't live up to the image.” Not sure if that’s a compliment or an insult.

Meanwhile, it seems Kate isn’t in everyone’s good books. She has upset her new neighbours – even though she only moved into the North London pad in St John's Wood a few months ago.

A 9ft wall in her back garden boasts large cracks, meaning it is unsafe. Not only that, but Kate has a problem with her sewage – nice.

When she returned from holiday in Ibiza, Kate found a letter from Camden Council informing her she was under investigation – and must sort the problems as soon as possible.

Confirming the news, a Camden Council press officer told the Daily Mirror: "The wall was inspected by our building control team and there is a problem.” I doubt any of her neighbours will be rushing to see La Moss immortalised in gold, then…
