Rapper Da Brat sentenced to three years in prison for her nightclub attack.
Da Brat was sentenced to three years in jail for attacking a woman with a bottle, causing permanent facial damage.
A judge DeKalb County is sending Da Brat to three years in jail, after she struck a woman with a rum bottle in an Atlanta, Georgia nightclub.
Da Brat aka Shawntae Harris, also received seven years probation and 200 hours of community service.
The altercation took place during a Halloween party at Studio 72 in Atlanta.
Shawntae Harris’ family were present in the courtroom and cried as police took Da Brat into custody. Da Brat told her family, “I love y’all,” as she was led out of the courtroom. Her family all said they loved her too as she was led out by the deputy.
Shawntae Harris “Da Brat” entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault.
The victim, who was a woitress at the club, had to be hospitalized after being hit by Harris with the rum bottle, and Flake said the woman suffered permanent facial scarring.
Apparently the victim and Da Brat were involved in a disagreement prior to the assault.
Sadly, this isn’t the first time Da Brat has had a run in with the police. Back in 2000, Da Brat beat a woman down with a gun because of VIP seating in a Georgia nightclub.
That victim had six stitches but never went to trial. Da Brat got off lucky only having to pay a $1,000 fine and 80 hours of community service.
Hopefully Da Brat has learned a lesson here and maybe should stay away from Georgia nightclubs!
